Who Needs to Take a Snowmobile Safety Course?

Below is a Complete listing of Safty Classes, dates and locations

 

You must successfully complete a snowmobile safety course if you are:

  • A person who is at least 12 but less than 17 years of age operating a snowmobile without direct supervision of a person 21 years of age or older must have in their immediate possession a valid snowmobile safety certificate.
     
  • A person who is at least 12 but less than 17 years of age may not cross a highway or street without having a valid snowmobile safety certificate in their immediate possession.
     
  • Snowmobile safety training is recommended for all snowmobile operators. Modern snowmobiles are capable of high rates of speeds over snow and ice. With the countless hazards associated with operating a snowmobile, training is a crucial factor in safe and responsible snowmobile operation.
     
  • Michigan Conservation Officers, in cooperation with schools, organizations and associations, take an active role in assuring that all of Michigan's citizens are given the opportunity to take a snowmobile safety course. The course emphasizes safe and responsible snowmobile operation.

October 2009

Saturday - October 3, Hosted by Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association. Location: 1205 W. 9th St., Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Times: 8:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Call 906-635-6161 to pre-register, lunch will be provided, and class size is limited to the first 50 students. For more information visit www.sootrails.org.

Saturday - October 10, Hosted by MSA and Byron Center Snowmobile Assn. Located at the Barry County Expo Center. Times: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. To sign up please call 616-361-2285. Lunch will be $5 per person. Adults are welcome to attend.

Saturday - October 10, Hosted by Lewiston Fun Ones Snowmobile club. Class will be located at Lewiston Fun Ones Snowmobile club, 4431 County, 489 North Road. Times: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Contact Karen Wilkin at (734) 728-8312 between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. for more information and registration. Alternative contact is Fun ones Snowmobile club (989) 786-5414 call anytime for more information. Pre-Registration is required! There is a course fee of $5 per person.

Monday - November 2, Two night class. Hosted by the Byron Center Snowmobile Assn. Located at Rockford Middle School (north auditorium). Times: 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Must attend both nights ( Nov. 2nd and 3rd). Please call 616-863-6322 to register.

Saturday - November 7, Hosted by Cadillac Winter Warriors, registration starts at 8:30 at the Council on Aging (across from fire station) Tustin, MI. To register, contact Don Wing at 231-775-3901.

Saturday - November 7, hosted by the East Jordan Sno-Mobilers Inc. held at the clubhouse in East Jordan starting at 9 a.m. Lunch will be provided. For pre registration please call Don at (23)536-2944 or Gerry at (231)582-7970. Class is free.

Saturday - Novemeber 21, The Walker Police Department will be hosting a Snowmobile Safety Class on Saturday November 21, 2009.  The class will begin at 8:30am and will be done around 3:00PM.  This will be held at the Walker City Hall commission chambers, which is 4243 Remembrance Rd NW Walker, MI  49534. The cost will be $10/ per child and that will include donuts/juice in the am and lunch (pizza) around noon.  The class will be done when each student has completed the test and it’s graded.  Please visit the City of Walker webpage :  www.ci.walker.mi.us. Class to be held in Harrison at the Harrison Sportsmans Club House – 3704 N. Harrison.

Saturday - December 5, Second half of December 4th class. Hosted by Clare County Sheriff Department and the Harrison Snowriders, Inc. Snowmobile Club on Friday December 4th 2009 from 6:00pm to 9:00 pm and Saturday December 5th 2009 from 9:00am to 1:00pm. MUST ATTEND BOTH DAYS. Class to be held in Harrison at the Harrison Sportsmans Club House – 3704 N. Harrison.

Saturday - December 5, Hosted by the Frankenmuth Snowmobile Club at the Frankenmuth Conservation Club grounds. It will run from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There is a $5.00 registration fee and lunch will be provided. To register call Ed Roedel at (989)823-2225.

It will run from 8 AM- 4 PM Safety Class is free with lunch provided. Adults are welcome and encouraged to take the Snowmobile Safety Class also. Saturday - December 12, Hosted by The Gobles Driftbusters Snowmobile Club, their annual safety class. Class starts at 8am to 2pm. No need to pre register. Class will be held at the Driftbusters Snowmobile Club at 710 Hughson Court, Gobles, MI 49055. Bring a sack lunch. The class is free and parents welcome!

Saturday - December 12, Hosted by the Newaygo County Snowmobile Association -Snow Chasers. Location: Hesperia at the School system. Times: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To enroll or for more details, please contact Bryan Jahr at 231-924-3612.
