For
Women Only Snowmobile Ride Benefits Easter Seals - Michigan
The 21st
annual “For Women Only” (FWO) event is scheduled for
February 8-10th, 2008 at the Ramada Inn (formerly
the Holiday Inn) in Grayling, Mich. The annual snowmobile
ride draws women from all over the Midwest for a weekend of
fun, pampering and relaxation all while raising funds to
support Easter Seals – Michigan’s therapeutic services for
children and adults with disabilities. Participants for
this event collect pledges similar to a walkathon. The
snowmobilers travel on groomed trails, covering between 50
and 100 miles, grouped by level of expertise in the sport.
Spa amenities, banquets and camaraderie round out this very
special ‘girls’ weekend’.
In 2007 the FWO
riders raised over $202,000 for Easter Seals programs and
services. The goal for this year is $210,000 to celebrate
the 21st year of this exciting event. Since the
inaugural event in 1988, nearly $2 million dollars has been
raised.
This year’s
riders will have the opportunity to meet and visit with one
of the many children helped by Easter Seals. Five-year-old
Ryan Glant, Easter Seals 2008 Child Ambassador, and his
family are excited to attend this year’s event where they
will have the opportunity to meet and thank the FWO riders
for their strong commitment to both this event and Easter
Seals-Michigan.
According to
Jennifer Glant, mother of the 2008 Child Ambassador, “Ryan’s
therapist provides one-to-one consistent interaction and
structure which I believe has resulted in the amazing
progress Ryan has made!”
Sponsors of the
event include the Michigan Snowmobile Association and
Nelson’s Speed Shop of Greenville, Michigan.
This year
event registration and the ability to make a pledge is
